Thought I'd start a discussion (if anyone's out there) on times tables for our students. In my class, I would say no one knows the times table and it makes it very difficult to do, not only multiplication, but division as well. If you can't use calculators in the test then it will takes too much time to figure out answers without knowing the tables. The question is: do you spend the time in class to go over it the necessary number of times to get them to memorize it? The same can be said for easy addition i.e. 5+9 or 5+7.
