Volunteer Positions

If you are interested in one of the following volunteer positions, please fill out our online volunteer application.

Small Group Literacy Tutor

• Teach small groups (4 - 6 students) in English for Speakers of Other Languages or Basic Literacy.
  
• Participate in tutor training workshop. Training workshops are held three times throughout the year at our Hartford Literacy Center.
  
• Time commitment is 2 hours per week for at least one year. Placements are available during morning or evening hours.

Computer Lab Tutor

• Work one-on-one or in small groups with students on our educational software.
  
• Assist students with basic computer skills, including web-browsing and navigation.
  
• Complete volunteer orientation and training.
  
• Time commitment is 1 - 2 hours per week for at least one
  term.

Special Projects Volunteer

• Help publish our annual student newsletter.
  
• Assist with mailings and other administrative tasks at various times during the year.
• Offer your expertise on one on our special project committees, e.g. Marketing, Development, or Special Events.
