National External Diploma Program (NEDP)
The GED test is not for everyone. The National External Diploma Program (NEDP) is a high school diploma program for adults who acquired their academic skills through life and work experiences and can demonstrate what they’ve learned. Completion takes an average of 6 months to 1 year, and is different for everyone. The NEDP is different from high school or the GED, because it is self-paced and confidential, conducted in one-to-one appointments with trained assessors, and is performance-based (not test-based). It offers flexible scheduling, and allows adults to choose their instructional resources. The NEDP is issued by your town/city’s Board of Education and is accepted by most colleges, employers, and military services as a high school diploma equivalent.
LVGH offers preparation classes for adults interested in pursuing the NEDP, in partnership with Hartford Adult Education. Classes focus on developing reading, writing, math, and other skills to the level required for enrollment in the NEDP.
