Cleverton is a former Basic Literacy student who recently returned to LVGH to join our Career Pathways program. He has always been able to find work, but mainly minimum wage jobs. His goal was to find a new role that was stable, paid a livable wage, and offered potential to grow.

Carmelo always wanted to be a surgeon. Even when he lived in a refugee camp, he still attended school every day and pursued his dream. Finally, he made it to Costa Rica where he attended med school. He returned to Nicaragua, where he met and married fellow doctor Ericka.

Merrick grew up in Jamaica. He lived in Kingston, worked as a bartender, and loved his job and his community. About thirty years ago, a regular at his job suggested he apply for a work visa and emigrate to the U.S., saying that he could make better money. He helped Merrick complete the application and soon after, Merrick moved to New York City.
